Sound configuration

Hi, Iīm trying to get sound from a USB soundcard (Alesis IO/2), got alsa running, the system recongnize the card, I selected the card both with Phonom (the test is ok, sounds), and with alsa-mixer, but when I try to play music, it doesnīt sound. The programs are configured with that card, so I donīt even know where the problem comes from. The version of slackware is 14 64 bits. Thank you very much!

Check the volume constantly. There is often a tendency that 'alsamixer' defaults to '0' volume at launching an audio application.

Thanks for your time man! The card isn't supported by Alsa, so there's no options when I run alsa-mixer. Any idea?

If card isn't supported by ALSA then you're out of luck!

If it is and you just need it to be used instead of the built-in audio chipset, then see here:

Thanks for the answer, the post seems helpfull, now I have another problem but I know how to fix that, just a matter of time. Anyway, I'm thinking to sell that card, and bought a M-Audio 2496, that is supported by alsa. Best regards!
