sound configuration
I need some help geting my sound working. I have slack 9.1 with the default kernal.
When I login to x with kde i get

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

What steps do i need to go about to get my sound working.
Note. The sound has not work in slackware from day 1

This worked for me!

Here is my senario for future reference:

I had my linux box in a 200 mhz compaq deskpro (128 mb sdram, 40. gig hd)
I recently was given a 333 mhz gateway. I swapped out its dinky 7 gb drive and upped the ram to 320 mb. I threw in my cheapo 3com network card from the compaq and the dvd drive. I booted it up into slackware, logged into my vnc server, and did the config command. I now have mp3s playing directly into my stereo from the Soundblaster Live I had installed :)

Now I just need a really long looping playlist.
