Sound and modem problems, intel HaM.

Hi, im trying to install my intel HaM 536ep chipset modem but it wont "make install", i get the error "unknowen distro" its really annoying because in the readme it says slackware is surrported, and i cant get my sound going ive got a nforce sound chipset it seems to have detected the sound but im not sure how to turn it on or if its installled properly etc etc, all help is much loved.

This has been asked 1,000,000,000,000 times before but ill ask it again how do i get my scroller to work in Slack, i remember u add a line into fstab or sumthing but my mem is blank and i dnt have time at this moment to find out how im just quickly typing this up, sorry for bad spelling and lack of infomation etc ill get back later if anything is needed.

Thank You. Thank You
