That wasn't released until Nov '95, and 0.93R5 in March '95 is probably the first one that we would recognise as being 'debian' as we know it. From the horses mouth: https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/p...tailed.en.html

A deliverable debian 'product' came a good while after Slackware's first release -- not that this detracts from debian in any way. Even a year or so after Slackware is still a long time ago, and should be respected as an achievement in its own right.

Anyway, Congrats to Slackware on not dying for yet another year!

Lots of positivity at Hacker News: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8051743

One comment says "The oldest surviving distribution, and yet it never lost its identity and its core values". However, it is perhaps more remarkable that the identity and core values were there from the start.

Happy birthday Slackware.

A big thanks to Pat (and the rest of the team of course) for giving us this great experience.

Ah, a misleading release number, that 0.93. That was the earliest I could find from a quick websearch.

Tonight I did a presentation at the local LUG entitled "Slackware Linux: 21 years and still not tried it? What are you waiting for?"
The slides are here, for anyone that might find it interesting or useful.

Hmm, a bit belated, but here goes...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SLACKWARE!!!

Thank you, Pat V.

Thank you, Eric (Hameleers), Robby (Workman), and many other folks in the Slackware community who have given of their time and effort to add a bit of icing to the cake Pat has baked for us.

Thanks to Jeremy for putting up with all the Slackers hanging around his forums.

Looking forward to many more years of Slacking.

Nice job. How was it received by the audience? Any converts?

No, I doubt there will be converts, but maybe they don't think I'm crazy any more. Or if they do still think I'm crazy, hopefully they won't blame that on Slackware.
