Someone Help

My dad had has this old crappy laptop that was basically more useful as fire wood than a computer running xp. I took a look at it the laptop itself did not seem to bad.. stats as followed

Processor
Intel Pentium 4-M 2.4 GHz
Data bus speed
400 MHz

Ram 512

for complete stats go

Anyway ... He said he did not care about anything that was on it and encouraged me to put Slackware on it so that he can be involved and try it out ( I guess ). Anyway I stuck in the cd's >.> the very same one I used on this computer which by the way I got on the internet! yea guys (for those of you that have been following my progress) . Everything works perfectly on the labtop I was happy that I got everything to work for him.. But what about me ?? None of my stuff works I was so surprised to that everything worked? What happened??? The only issue with his that he His Wireless card which is a Linksys Wireless -G Notebook adapter Model number WPC54G. Now I ask you guys how can this be ? Its not like I am not happy that everything was a huge success because I am happy that I got at least one Linux system up and going. However I would like the same success for me. The only difference between his installation and mine is that his is only Slackware and mine is dual booted with a Xp.

I don't know what the specs of your machine is. What has happened with your fathers laptop is nothing unusual. The fact is, the older the hardware, the more likely it is that everything will work out of the box with GNU/Linux!.

Hi,

The hardware is not that old for both laptops. Post some errors as to what is occurring. We cannot help without information. What is not happening for your laptop? Both laptops have different hardware and configurations. So the comparison is not 'fair'. Each system is unique!
