Goodbye Mozilla

Pale Moon 27.6.1 has pretty much solved my main issue with the chat buffer on youtube. I have completely removed Mozilla Firefox , along with SeaMonkey. Now I am just trying to get rid of Thunderbird; but getting Claws to import my Thunderbird mail is a pain.

Have you tried forwarding your mail from Thunderbird instead of importing? Set up Claws Mail to download the forwards once everything is setup. Pale Moon 27.6.2 is the last version for 2017.

Sounds like a complete PITA to do that, I have tonnes of messages kept. I saw python scripts to import contacts and convert the mailbox, but it doesn't work when I try to use it.

Almost certainly this is the result of the icu4c upgrade.

You could try to make an ugly symlink but don't tell anyone that I suggested that.

Of course the real solution is to rebuild Pale Moon against the new icu4c.

Rebuilt it from Slackbuilds and all seems well, so far. BTW,
there are two scripts at Sbo for Pale Moon. I used one listed in lower-case.

BTW, I'm keeping an eye on the Otter browser. The idea that they are using Opera-12.xx as a model appeals to me.

The one you're using that is the lowercase one is just repackaging the binary that the Pale Moon team packages. I maintain and use that one. Theoretically, it should work in any situation.

For me Pale Moon is no go for practical reasons: banking and all secure transactions that require FF/Chrome/and (less and less) IE

Yes but without disabling completely ipv6 or blocking with firewall Webrtc does not matter because one can't NAT ipv6 as in the case of ipv4 so unless system does not advertise ipv6 address disabling webrtc is only half of the problem.
Ipv6 is privacy killer anyway.

I haven't had any trouble accessing my account with a major bank using the latest version of Pale Moon.

Me neither, and I'm not even using a particularly recent version of palemoon.

Hi,

I'll be sticking to Pale Moon until I have proper Firefox-mindset.

I just tried Firefox and NoScript.
The user interface of NoScript has changed dramatically.

I'm gonna ask, for God's sake, why?
And some will reply, why not? ;-)

Long gone Windows 2000 user interface days ;-)

I had the same feelings at first. I had delayed my switch to FF 57 until NoScript was available. When I did switch, I was so disappointed by the new NoScript. Nevertheless, I didn't give up and there were updates with significant improvements to the initial design. Now I am totally comfortable using it and I think it's better.

Here is the author's blog:

https://hackademix.net/category/noscript/

He explains why the old GUI is a technical impossibility under the new (and secure) Webextensions API. He admits the confusion about how the new version works, created by lack of documentation. He has since posted some explanatory notes in the blog. I recommend that you check them out.

Hi,

@Ilgar Thanks. I'll take a look when the TIME COMES (TM).

Both Pale Moon SlackBuilds (compile and repackage) have been updated and are awaiting approval/public update on SBo.

An added note, the repackage version is simply a version bump. As for the compile, I do not know.
