Some startup issues

I have installed slack 11, everything works great and I am really happy with it. The only issue I am having is this:

when its going through startup and whatnot, it says hda: IRQ probe failed, resetting drive, it does this for every IDE channel, but the only drive I have hooked to IDE channel is the CD-ROM, which is on hdc. Is there a way I can disable it from checking all the other drives except for hdc? It takes about an extra minute to boot.

I checked to see if I can disable the IDE channels in the BIOS, but it will not let me completely disable them, it just lets me tell the bios whether or not I have a drive installed on a particular channel.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Paul

Try to append "hda=noprobe hdb=noprobe hdd=noprobe" to your kernel startup parameters in /etc/lilo.conf. See "man bootparam" for available options.
