some questions

A have a few questions about working in Slackware 9.1:
1- at start it shows "darkstar login:"; how could I change "darkstar" in something else.
2 - if I have an user x how could I change it permissions so he would be similar with root(I need to mount/umount or halt without login as root)?

Thanks!

darkstar is the default host name..... do a netconfig as root and you can change it to whatever you want...

As for doing things as a user that are normally reserved for root, the best option is sudo. You can assign the ability for normal users to do any task that root can. Example: By adding the line:

username ALL=NOPASSWD: /sbin/shutdown -h now, /sbin/shutdown -r now

to your sudoers file (visudo as root) you can allow ALL users to shut the system down without requiring a password.
