Solutions to 'ugly fonts' in fluxbox

I have a couple of questions for the fluxbox gurus. Firstly, is there a global setting for antialiasing / hinting / RGB subpixel rendering in fluxbox? What about for the GTK applications?

I'm also wondering if anyone has tried installing Ubuntu's or MS Cleartype LCD filter font packages in slackware. I used one of these when I was running arch, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to adapt for slackware. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/...tched_packages (AUR is similar to slackbuilds)

I can't speak for fluxbox, but yes a lot of us here are using sub-pixel hinting patches to get better fonts, it makes a huge improvement. Dugan was nice enough to condense all of the posts into a nice guide.

For fluxbox, try their wiki
