Software RAID1 monitoring

There is everything ok with RAID1 (mirroring) which I built, but the question is ho w can I do RAID1 device md0 monitoring.
If there one of two hdd breaks, how will I know it?
So I want to be sure everything is working and if there something goes wrong and if there is some error, I would like to know it asap of course.

What should I do monitoring?

You can start the mdmonitor if it is included with you distribution:

chkconfig mdmonitor on
service mdmonitor start

If you have the mdadm package installed (I assume you do, to setup your RAID array), mdmonitor should be included. If not, you can always start it manually with:

mdadm --monitor --scan -f

You'll need to create/edit an /etc/mdadm.conf file (see 'man mdadm.conf'), in which you specify the userid to get email when there is a problem. For example:
