software raid? dmraid?

Hi.
I have looked around a bit an cant find much at all surrounding this grey area.
I have a amd 64 on a nforce4 mb - with the built in raid capabilities (software raid controlled by the chip).
I want to install slamd64 on my system, but how do i access my raid array (sata disks - raid0)

I have read up a bit and found some info on a component called dmraid which supports my nforce4 raid. available at this site is the source http://people.redhat.com/~heinzm/sw/dmraid/
Of course i cant build the code during the initial setup (no c compiler) - also this source is only for 32bit.

The problem i am having and probably most other people with software raid on either an intel chipset or VIA or Nforce is that how do i install the OS onto the array?
Has anyone managed to do it? how?

cheers
Jurgen

for anyone else who is interested - maybe you have the same problem. The solution is using linux software raid. Im not sure about installing win xp onto that linux software raid? (if it is even possible) Maybe someone could shed some light on that for me?

check this link out http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=54149 - I know that takes you to the nvidia site, but the outcome is the same no matter what chipset you have (unless you have true hardware raid)

Jurgen
