NEtwork Promiscuous Ethernet Detector
This can detect, users that may sniff your network. It detects if there are Ethernet cards set in promiscuous mode...

You can download the code of Neped from here:
http://downloads.securityfocus.com/tools/neped.c
You have to compile it on gcc
Code:
$ gcc -o neped neped.c
and simply run from root, using your net interface as a parameter
Code:
# ./neped eth0

Are you attached to a local network or just to the internet ? In other words, do you think that someone on your local net is intercepting you messenger traffic or do think someone on the internet is doing this ? Are you on a wireless connection ?
