small problem with kde 4.5.5

After I adjust my slackware and rebooted I saw a strange "rectangle" on my desktop. Please, look at the screenshots below and tell me how I should solve this problem.

I can't move it. Right-click menu on a rectangle coincides with a right-click on desktop. It does not prevent, but very annoying.

You're not alone. I've seen the same thing. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.

It looks like a second workspace plasmoid without plasmoids in it.

Unlocking the plasmoids does not enable the configuration bar of the plasmoid?

I also have this happen. It does not happen all the time, so it is not a major issue, but is there any way to fix it without having to install 4.6? I also noticed it only happens on my desktop which runs Slackware64 13.37 and its resolution is 1680x1050 and not on my laptop which runs Slackware 13.37 and has a resolution of only 1024x600.

Right! Now it's gone.

Unlocking the plasmoids does not help.

Have you tried going into System Settings -> Desktop Effects and then toggling Suspend Desktop Effects followed by resume?
An annoyance, but works for me.

I reported the same issue here:

Harder to see with my current wallpaper. But strange, i noticed it a few times before tweaking any of the settings, and thought it went away, but it seems it is also back for me.

P.S: if it helps with solving this, im using the latest nvidia binary driver with a "nVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430" card on x86_64.

Hi,

My desktop has an Nvidia Geforce GTX 470, and my laptop has an Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03). On my desktop I am using the official proprietary Nvidia driver downloaded off of the Nvidia website. On my laptop, I am using the driver that comes with Slackware. I found out to fix it for me, I just have to log out and back in when it happens. It is only a temporary fix though, as it happens again every once and awhile.

It also happens on Kubuntu 10.10 with KDE4-4.5.x.

It is a KDE4-4.5.x bug, solved in KDE4-4.6.x
