Slow Browser --A reminder to me

Remember to check resolv.conf FIRST to make sure that it is pointing to the DNS server-addresses (for your service provider); Primary and Secondary, with the third line pointing to the router itself. When using a SOHO router it will likely become the first entry for DNS.

Pay attention to the installation!

Just for jollies: Turn off IPV6--for now. Be redundant, put the entries in modules.conf and create modules.conf.local and put the entries in there--it doesn't hurt anything.
alias net-pef-10 off
alias ipv6 off

Between those two entries, no matter how many kernels you compile, one of those files should be read at boot-time to turn off ipv6. If you remember to leave ipv6 out of the kernel it shouldn't hurt any thing to turn off a non-existent service/module.

Next time: Try putting needful things into rc.d/rc.local instead of doing things the hard way--and "Comment" them. Can you say: "doh?" I knew that you could. (Especially, since you bitch when anyone else puts things anywhere else! And you whine when things aren't commented.)

Now calm down and get yourself another cup of coffee (or go to bed if is >1:30am.)

To any one but me: I turned into "Mr Magoo" after turning 40, please don't be offended. I did searches for "Slow Browser" because I couldn't remember and was frustrated by the results. This post has enough information to bring it all back.

whilst this information may well help other people, please don't use the LQ.org forums as a note to self. of course you certainly actually use a real lq.org blog for this sort of stuff... http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/blog/
