Slint-20130630 has been released.

For Slackware-current's installer, slint is in sync with Slackware-current's state as shown in Changelog.txt dated Sat Jun 29 22:08:25 UTC 2013, and messages displayed when users hit [F3] have been modified to help choose KMS or not (and huge.s vs huge.smp for 32 bit).

For all supported Slackware versions, ability to choose another keymap before logging in has been restored. Other changes that mainly provide more documentation about locales' handling and make further maintenance easier are listed at end of post.

Armin Besirovic aka adioe3 will translate into Bosnian (Bosnia and Herzegovina), welcome on board Armin.

The French translation has been reviewed, thanks to kikinovak.

Attention all translators and volunteers

File CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT in Slackware-current has been updated on June 23. This could be a harbinger of a beta or a release candidate for upcoming Slackware 14.1 being not that far away.

As the saying goes, forecast is a difficult art, especially about the future. Nevertheless from the two last development cycles I infer that Slackware 14.1 could be released, say within two or three months.

So let's try to have more translations available before end of August, 2013.

If we can be ready for Slackware stable 14.1 as soon as it will be released, the Slackware Internationalization Project will gain credibility among its potential users and that could help convince our BDFL to integrate slint in next Slackware version, be it 14.2 or 15.0 (whishful thinking, yes Pat :-)

Ability for a translation team to reach that goal depends on number of translators and time they can devote to the task, I imagine.

So:

• Coordinators, feel free to request (more) help. For instance, if not already done you could inform about slint and request volunteers to help you on websites about Slackware or at least Linux in your language that you aware of
• New volunteers, you are still welcome on board, see slint's home page and file TRANSLATORS to know how to participate
• All contributors and volunteers, don't hesitate to send to the coordinator for your language and/or to me a message, in case you encounter on your way an obstacle (my email address is at the bottom of aforementioned TRANSLATORS file)
• But if you think that your translation can't be completed on schedule, don't be discouraged: it will be added as soon as it is ready. After all, this just a matter of including your PO file in slint's tree.
• I wish that progress of each translation team be visible by all. At the moment this is the case only for those who frequently upload a new PO file on Transifex. So please every coordinator make sure that you or one of your team members upload a PO file there at least once a week, even if you do not use Transifex otherwise. I suggest that be every Sunday night or Monday morning.

slint's home page have been updated in English and French.

All translators and reviewers registered in Transifex are now listed on the home page, which was long overdue.

Also, that web page now inform of availability and usage of bootable ISO and USB images of slint for each supported edition of Slackware.

To ease maintenance of home page I used 'po4a' to make a xhtml -> PO conversion, deleted the old resource and created a new one on Transifex called "index.html". I already uploaded fuzzy PO files for German, Spanish and Portugese (Brazil) versions, please translators update them as soon as you can.

'po4a' is useful as well to "gettextize" man pages, so I plan to submit a SlackBuild for it @ slackbuilds.org, unless someone else be faster.

The website now includes a copy of unpacked most recent slint tarball here.

New locale introduction has been made easier: this is just a matter of editing SeTlocales.

Locales handling is documented in LOCALES_SETTINGS.TXT.

Now files isolinux.cfg and possibly elilo.conf are written on the fly by scripts which build installers to include stanzas for included locales.

Five scripts have been added to http://slint.fr/slint/scripts directory:

• make_slint_iso.sh and make_slint_usb.sh make bootable mini ISO(s) or USB image(s) respectively, of slint (only the installer) for one or all supported Slackware versions. I use them to update ISO and USB images in subdirectories of slint.fr/pub
• move_installers_to_tree.sh moves ISO and USB images to a local mirror of http://slint.fr before uploading them
• update_current.s helps keep slint-<date>/data/{32,64}-current/source/* in sync with current state of Slackware-current. This needs to keep in slint-<date>/data/{32,64}-current/orig all genuine scripts in their state after running that script.

So volunteer(s) to take over maintenance if/when I vanish will find all needed stuff in one place.

That's not that I intend to vanish soon, but you never know

Next task for me will be to write a "how-to integrate slint in Slackware", just in case

Also, Mr Phan Anh volunteered for Vietnamese, thanks to him. Will will have to wait till we find proper locale settings (font and kernel keymap) for Vietnamese before including it in slint though, see this post.
In case I forgot to thank or welcome someone, all translators registered on Transifex (where you can follow progress of teams who uploaded their PO files) should be listed in our home page, which is now available in Russian, thanks Bormant.

Also slint-20130707 is available. It's by no means a major release, but for Slackware-current it is in sync with the genuine version as of Sun Jul 7 08:39:01 UTC 2013. USB and ISO installers for Slackware-current (32 and 64 bit) have been updated accordingly.

ATM I can't remember what I forgot to write here :-)

Let me add this about that: I suggest that all teams make a priority of completing the PO file for index.html, as pointing people to this page in your own language can help you get more help for translation of slint itself.

For instance flank1er posted about the project here then bormant pointed to slint.fr, which (I guess) helped attract more volunteers.
