Sleep, KDE and monitor setup ...

Since I've upgraded my laptop to 13.1 KDE now complains everytime I wake it up from sleep. The message is "Monitor setup has changed - KDE Daemon: a new monitor output has been connected". Sometimes the windows that were open have been resized. Sometimes the task bar disappears (and I have to restart the X server).

This obviously sounds as a problem from KDE.

Has anyone else found out this behavior? And have you been able to fix it?

So far it is a lottery as many times I do not have to restart X, but now and then I do. In those cases it would have been better to switch off rather than put it to sleep...

wise people please speak up

This is likely to be an X configuration problem or a quirky hardware problem. More information is needed.
Please post the contents of /etc/X11/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf (if you have one). Also post the output of 'xrandr'

PS- I ain't wise enough to shutup!

allend, thanks for being unwise! The data below relates to the current session which has gone through at least one sleep/wake cycle which resulted in the error message (but not in the disappearance of the KDE task bar). I don't have /etc/X11/xorg.conf

output of xrandr --verbose

It is not obvious to me why you are having a problem. You could try locking your display to the LVDS output by putting these lines into /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Code:
Section "Device"
    Identifier "Device0"
    Driver "intel"
    BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
    Screen 0
    Option "Monitor-LVDS1" "Monitor0"
    Option "Monitor-VGA1" "MonitorOff"
    Option "Monitor-HDMI1" "MonitorOff"
    Option "Monitor-HDMI2" "MonitorOff"
    Option "Monitor-DP1" "MonitorOff"
    Option "Monitor-DP2" "MonitorOff"
    Option "Monitor-DP3" "MonitorOff"
    Option "Monitor-TV1" "MonitorOff"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Monitor0"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "MonitorOff"
    Option "Ignore" "true"
EndSection
This should make only the screen on output LVDS1 available. If you want to use an external device then you will need to make appropriate adjustments.

Thanks so much Allend for your solution editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf as you mentiond leade me not to see that annoying error massage.
