Slax live

If I take a copy of Slax live to run in a prospective new laptop will I get a good idea of hardware compatibility, for that machine, running Slackware 11. Hope that makes sense

Yes and no,

Sometimes you may have to download the drivers for devices; which is a downside to running live CD's because you cannot install any software :o

Slax is small enough to boot with
Code:

slax copy2ram
so you can install drivers, packages, etc. and free up the CD-ROM drive.

Also, google on the laptop model and Linux you should be able to get a fair idea of what success others have had with Linux on that model.

Thanks for the reply Dennisk but changed mind about that particular one! A few bad reviews about that one. Now have my eye on a Lenovo
