"I am happy to announce new Slax release based on Slackware 15! Previous Slackware-based version dates back to 2013, I am sorry for the delay "

Does this mean that this Slackware based Slax is a special case and not the future?

The way i read it, the restricted availability is a special case and not the future. IOW, paid users get early access. IOW, they pay twice, once for the fee, and again for the technical costs of early adoption.

well, to be fair there's nothing "early" about Slax being based on Slackware as the first version was based on Slackware 8.0 and it has been based on it until 2017...
