Slax

It is sort of Live CD of Slackware, so I wanter to ask what is your opinion about it?
Can it be run on Compaq Presario 2500, 2.66Ghz, 512 Mb DDR RAM, etc..?

And what are the disadvantages compare to clasic instalation?!

Not sure if it will run, but it might.

Slax is very useful if you want to show off slackware to your friends since its a livecd and doesn't need to be installed to run.

Just go with the normal slack install if you plan to use slackware on your laptop on a long term basis.

Good thing about a live cd. Try it and see. you haven't lost anything.

It'll run great on that machine. It works for me on a computer with a 1.2 Ghz proc, 128 MB of RAM and no hard drive. A disavantage is that saving things is a pain. For example, if you get a high score in a game and you restart, you lose that. If you want to save a document, you must save it to a USB drive, CD-RW or hard drive (but not NTFS). You can use configsave to save your settings. With your RAM, you can copy it to RAM and it'll run like lightning. Have fun!:)

Tried both Slax and gNOX. Both Slackware based. gNOX much better

Gnox was created using the scripts from Tomas, who created Slax. So, he deserves some credit.
