you get support when you buy it. I would expect the level of support to be very limited. The main reason is that for $40.00 they can't possibly spend forever on someone with some odd piece of hardware. Also the cost of boxing up the cd's and marketing.

I plan on purchasing Slack 8.1 this time around to help out and support Slackware. But most likely the boxed set doesn't come with anything you can't get already online. But I say, go ahead and buy it, your helping out the best distro out there. =)

I have been using Slack for years and the best way I have found to support the effort AND demonstrate my gratitude is to purchase it. Slack is still a one-of-a-kind distro. None of the others keep it as simple and clean, without changing everything on every version. I started with Slack and tried five or six others and ended up back where I started.

There are a lot of distros available today, spreading the market even thinner. In the fight to even stay alive; financial support is very important for all of them.

Yeah, suppoprt Patrick and Slack, do like me, i always bought Slack boxed set, and even the book (although there is a online version too), ooh yeah, and the slack shirt
No seriously, i think you should purchase the CDs if you feel like a Slacker and want to say "thanks" to Patrick.
