slackware64 14.0 stop at booting on generic kernel ?
Hello!
have a problem - since i put in computer ati hd4350 card, on my generic kernel ( makes on instruction based on
http://docs.slackware.com/slackware:beginners_guide ).
stops booting / lock up.
that's in a phase "uncompressing kernel" with dots - right after a Lilo choice - i have
uncompressingkernel........................................................................
and that's all - there we go, and nothing do further. with another videocard ( i use ancient ati mach64 w 1 Mb on pci slot), there all be ok.
with ati 4350 in huge kernel also all be ok. card works good also on boinc compution.
where can be a problem there? what way i can identification problem root?
maybe i need add specific modules when build initrd for "generic kernel" ?

What modules do you have in your initrd? How did you generate your initrd?

mkinitrd -c -k 3.2.29 -f ext4 -r /dev/md1 -m mbcache:jbd2:ext4 -R -u -o /boot/initrd.gz
i got to /usr/share/mkinitrd
and run mkinitrd_command_generator.sh
it gives that outpur who i write earlier. i do it, then edit /etc/lilo.conf , and do lilo -v
after that i got additional entry at start - "linux_generic".
it works ok, until i put that ati card in computer - then it stops at "loading linux" stage -not at start, but seems after middle ( in process there is appear additional dots, and then it stops).....

today looking - i be a bit unprecise - īrst stage, when lilo runs any conīguration is "Loading Linux" and then in end ofthat text begin to adding dots, who indicate as "loading" is going.
and in that phase, ater some tens dot i got a stop.
when i choose default ater installation - huge.s kernel - all works ok.
if i put another videocard (pci one) in computer, my generic kernel starts ok.
with 4350 in pci-e slot it stops on generic kernel - and not understand, why?
try some times to rerun mkinitrd and then lilo - no changes.
affected OS is slackware64 14.0
any ideas, what i can do ?
