Slackware to connect to a MS VPN

I'm trying to connect to my MS VPN at work from my slackware box.

It seems that http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/ has designed a client for this, but I can't get it working..

The first installation step, asks you to verify that you have MPPE support, by doing a
# modprobe ppp-compress-18

and i get
modprobe: Can't locate module ppp-compress-18

so it looks like I don't have this in my kernel. Doing a make menuconfig, I couldn't find this anywhere. I am using kernel 2.4.22. There isn't really any documentation on the website telling you how to get it (for slackware, that I can find anyways).

Has anyone had any luck with connecting to VPN's? Please share

i've found that by following this:

i've got past the first step, modprobe ppp-compress-18 works now. we'll see how it goes from here..
