Slackware Store Query

Hi guys,

How long does it usually take for the Slackware DVD/T-shirts to be delivered to England from the official slackware store?
I bought a DVD and a couple of slackware t-shirts straight after S13 was released. Since then I have emailed the store twice (quoting my order number) however I haven't received any reply yet.

I guess the guys are extremely busy spreading the good word of slackware all around the world.

It can take a while. First time I ordered a CD/Slackbook set it took a few weeks. I think the shipping end is handled by one person (Pat?) and when there's a new release they get swamped. I do remember that my email query did get a response eventually, but the only advice I can offer is to be patient.

I emailed the store shortly after 13 came out about subscriptions/donations. I haven't got a credit card, only a Maestro debit card, so I asked about any/all alternative means of payment. No reply yet.

Ok, Today I received the T-shirts. Still waiting for the DVD.

For the record, did you guys get an email confirmation of your order (assuming you requested one with the checkbox on the order form)??

I haven't yet, but figured it would not come until the order was actually processed/shipped.

I did get confirmation emails on the same day when I ordered the items (I placed two separate orders). Since then I haven't heard from the store. I did not receive any email that the t-shirts had been shipped.

Gosh, I hope Pat has some help with that -- I can't imagine him alone dealing with the lions share of the Store, on top of the distro itself

Somebody on the Slack forum here mentioned a woman, can't remember her name, in charge of the store.

You're thinking of Theresa Garner. When I ordered Slack 11 I ordered it on 29/08/06 and received it after 16/10/06. I guess it takes time for the disks to be created, along with the packaging, and then for it all to be shipped. So you may not get the disks until October or November.

Besides, I assume the demand for Slackware is probably much higher with this release so patience is the answer.

I assume the same, despite knowing full-well where 'assuming' gets us

I received a reply from Theresa Garner from Slackware store. Apparently they'll start shipping some time either the end of this week or next week

Slack Store Always this bad?

Hello, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I was wondering if Slackware is always slow about shipping items. I placed an order for the slackbook some t-shirts and pre ordered slack 13 on 6/21/09.I sent an e-mail 7/19/09 to get some sort of confirmation and never have heard a peep from them since I placed the order. They were sure quick to charge my credit card however. I did send another e-mail to find out what my order status is but does any of you slack people out there know of anyone specific at Slackware I should get in contact with? This is beginning to annoy me and I really don't want to call my card holder for a charge back.

Thanks jonycat

The email addresses on the site are correct and they do answer mail. You should be aware though that it is a very very small operation and they are dealing with printing the CDs and books, etc as well as the shipping. I would suggest dropping the sales person/team another mail as they may have genuinely missed your email.

Not my experience. They were always reliable and replied to all my email questions within a week or less. May be there's a technical problem or you have used a dead email address.

In any case, you can probably just send an email to Pat V. directly, as he is, to my knowledge, running the store as part of his business. Email address is someting like volkerdi AT slackware DOT com.
