Congratulations, Eric, that's great news! No beer here, but I guess that good tea is also appropriate for celebrating.

Maybe you should look in the mirror to see who needs that advice you so freely given to someone who doesn't need such!

I imagine he meant that humorously. Like since Eric's stress levels are now down, instead of spending time working on Slackware (especially Chromium and LibreOffice, since they can both cause stress depending on if major changes happened to the codebase), to do something else for celebration. I don't think he meant Eric needed to get a life literally.

I too believe Allend meant that as a concern. May be he forgot to put a *concerned face emoji* or something in front of that.

Excellent news. I'm sure your new company will find out shortly just what a treasure landed in their laps.

This is the company: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASML_Holding
It is in cycling distance from where I live. My job would that of Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer in the Electrical Engineering Support Department of IT.
Interestingly, the IT Director told me when I sent him a "thank you for hiring me" message, that he has a challenge for me. Literally he said "build a Slackware-like community here inside ASML".
I'll try to introduce the concept of trolling to make it a real challenge ;-)

CONGRATULATIONS ERIC !

I am very happy for you as everyone needs both recognition and hope, not to mention the ability to provide for one's family. You most certainly deserve it. i'd like to offer your new company a challenge. Since it is demonstrably true that real genius is, as Thomas Edison once quipped, "2% Inspiration and 98% perspiration" anyone who witnesses your work needs to be aware that you have both Inspiration and Perspiration galore.... provided you're given work that has a solid purpose and that you can be proud of. Hopefully they will provide you with such rewarding work. That the position went unfilled for a year does bode well since they seem to have a similar high set of standards to your own. Good Fortune, Brother!

Darth Vader --

Sorry, I must have misunderstood or missed a post, I thought I read that the next Interview was about compensation ( that's why I wrote it as Next ${Interview} )

Anyhow ... Congrats again Eric, they're lucky to have you ... I did wish that our Company was hiring in Europe
