Slackware RPMs
Is there a feature in Slackware to keep your RPMs up to date, similiar to that of RedHat?
|
No, not unless it is part of that RPM. Slackware does not pull a Microsoft Windows on your machine. It only contains tested and proven packages. Running the lastest and greatest all the time is not likely a good idea.

RPM is not really for Slackware. I do not think I have ever seen a RPM built for Slackware. I always steer clear of them because they wouldn't be complied for the correct libraries. However, for the Slack package management program (pkgtool), starting with Slack 8.1 you could check out a package called "autopkg". It requires the new package naming system in Slack 8.1. That is why it will not work on an older distribution.
http://autopkg.unixpert.be I just tried and the site wasn't reachable from my system. But you could google autopkg and get the links from other sites. |
I couldn't reach the autopkg site myself. But you can always get the package from freahmeat.net.
