slackware reference??
I was just wondering what reference books you would recommend for a linux/slackware newbie?

Well, I can whole-heartedly recommend this one. :D

Seriously. These forums and google has never - EVER - failed to help me solve a problem. As for books, there is the official Slackware book, which unfortunately isn't that hot. However, I definitely recommend "Running Linux". Great book.

There is a slackware-linux book available on-line. Some very good reading, if you have the time:

Thanks, I'll check out that Running Linux book. I realize all the information I could ever want is available online, but I still prefer having a hard copy reference next to my desk.

Linux System Administration by Marcel Gagne is a kickass *nix book. It sounds intimidating, but it's not. It starts from the very beginning for the noob, and goes through a ton of topics to prepare you for seriously using Linux. The author has an entertaining style that makes it fun to read.

You can check out like 40 pgs of it .
