So my shiny new laptop has a Radeon Vega 8 video chipset. Slackware 14.2 won't load (because it doesn't recognize the hard drive) so, I'm forced to use Current.
Current loads the amdgpu drivers but they fail on X startup (no screens found). I saw the thread on amdgpu-pro (
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ro-4175620876/) and I tried bassmadrigal 's slackbuild but it fails because Current's kernel is too new.
So, it looks like I'm forced to use the generic VESA X driver.
Can anyone tell me how to force xconfig to configure for VESA (or another generic driver). (I don't need 3D)
