Slackware Plug and Play

Hi guys,

Well my problem consists in that i compiled the Slackware kernel to recognize the 2 processors i have on my PC, there was no problem inthat, the problem is that after i recompiled the kernel, the soundcard went dead.

I reinstalled Slackware, and my soundcard works perfectly, but when i compile the kernel with simetric support, the soundcard goes dead again.

The thing that i noticed when i typed dmesg |more, is that isapnp doesn't detect nothing and neither pci.

The option in the kernel of supporting Plug n Play is ON. Any ideas of what is happening ?

Hope you can help me.

BTW: The soundcard is a soundblaster 4.1 digital and the ensoniq drivers worked fine for it.

If you're using the 2.4 kernel, you need to reinstall the sound
drivers after you recompile the kernel. Just reinstall the alsa-driver
