Firstly run xorgconfig and answer to questions correctly. Restart X server. If mouse still doesn't work, than you will need to open /etc/X11/xorg.conf and look at these lines:
Code:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "auto"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" #this makes the wheel work
EndSection

ALien_Hominid, i have a USB wireless mouse and also a built in synaptics touchpad (laptop).
The mouse works fine when pluggd in and when i unplug i can use the touchpad fine (except for the tap feature) - you can tap the pad twice to act as double click...
Do you know how to enable this?
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Protocol" "Auto"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Do i need to make another entry for 'pointer' or something?
** Actually, the tap does in fact work as double click - but i cannot do a 'drap/drop' type movement with it..
