Hahaha Thanks for the the info Kikinovak. I have used Enlightenment in the past and I really like it.

So, I'm going to give it another shot.

I'm going to take a look at sbopkg. Thanks again for the information.

Kikinovak, do you know how to install/start enlightenment? I went ahead and install the following according to the website:
* Eina
* Eet
* Evas
* Ecore
* Embryo
* Edje
* Efreet
* E_Dbus
* Eeze

But I can see a way to start enlightenment. Should that be start enlightenment? or start e17? What am I missing?

In my server box i will use a modified form of this version of Tagfiles http://www.microlinux.fr/slackware/t...Tagfiles-HOWTO
Niki provides a script to run for dependencies and this is for slackware 13.37.

Also before I upgrade which i do with a fresh install i do a lot of reading online about the version I am upgrading to, this original post reminded me of this post from SysAdmin about Xkeyboard and Xmouse config. required for 13.37 http://blog.tpa.me.uk/2011/03/29/sla...3-37-xorg-hal/

I only do almost full install for desktop ;) Hope this helps

Thanks for the information nightsky. I was able to start enlightenment last night. I was missing Enlightenment. I went ahead and downloaded, compile it and install it and it works great!
Now the next step for me would be to install a window manager, is that what is call? I'm talking about the window that you get when your PC starts under X and you have the option to select which desktop or window you want to log into. I believe enlightenment had or has Entrance. But besides that, I think I got everything that I need on my pc right now.

Erm... seems you're missing the important package here, 'enlightenment' :D Build it and then run 'xwmconfig'.

Jesus, I completely forgot this stuff on my server. Eat your own dogfood, as they say, which isn't true in my case. I did fiddle around with trimming down installations and then checking for system integrity, even rebuilding the odd package, only to conclude it was 1) too much work and 2) not worth the trouble. Now, every server I install is "everything except KDE, KDEI and XAP".

Kikinovak, by installing the series packages that you suggested, the A, AP, D, E, F, K, L, N, X and Y should get most stuff working and yo
u don't install a lot of extra stuff.
At the moment I have all that I need on my PC. I have Enlightenment, firefox, seamonkey, pidgin, thunderbird, xchat, pan newsreader, gftp, xmms, etc...
I just need to install openoffice and upgrade the browsers to the latest versions.
So, over all I have what I need at the moment and I'm real happy with it.
