It's not that I don't believe you, but stating that
startx is not in your system when you have installed XFree is like saying you've installed Windows but you can't run
command.com or
cmd.exe... Yes, it is
that illogical!
Have you done
whereis startx? Did it return anything? If you do have X installed
properly, you should see something like this:

startx: /usr/X11R6/bin/startx /usr/bin/X11/startx /usr/X11/bin/startx /usr/X11/man/man1/startx.1x.gz
Next, you should check if
/usr/X11R6/bin is in your $PATH by running
echo $PATH... You should see something similar to this:
