Exclamation Slackware ISO 8.1 Burn/Install Problem

Hey I've got a problem, when I burn the slackware 8.1 ISO image and run a full install, it does not install completely! I've tried running other install modes but they don't work either. I've tried burning the disc in Track-at-Once and Disc-at-Once w/the iso9660 filesystem.

I'm using a Iomega Zip CD 650 usb w/the Adaptec Easy CD Creater 4.2 on win98. The computer i'm installing on is an HP Pavillion N5415 w/the Phoenix BIOS version/revision GM.M1.02.

Have you checked the image using md5summer ( http://www.md5summer.org/ )?

When does it stop? Which stage do you reach? And what's the last message you get?

I think that your problem is easy cd destroyer. Try it with nero.

Re: Mara and Aussie

Mara: I got no error massages, besides a buffer underrun(stupid slow Aptiva, the 300mhz AMD K6/2 running win98, stupid slow refurbished cd burner) but that doesn't really mean anything(see Aussie*):P

Aussie: hehehe very funny, I will look in to it, although Adaptec EasyCDDistroyer as you called it, didn't give me any error messages other than a buffer underrun, although that doesn't mean anything* because it could be an underlying problem, since EasyCDDestroyer doesn't give debug 2 level output, you wouldn't know if there was an underlying problem:P

Well, if you can answer these questions please do. But if all else fails i'll just buy Slackware from the Slackware Store, 40 bucks isn't that bad. Stupid CD-Rs, CD Burners(especially usb), and CD Recording Software(stupid proprietary crap, although Nero might be good).

Also, i am NOT a newbie! I'm a freelance coder and [alpha]geek.
Even though you haven't, if thinking of doing so don'tD:

Since when do "buffer underruns" don't mean anything when burning CD's? I think all Windows software aborts the burn after that and fixates the CD, incomplete! The Slack 8.1 iso image requires 700 MByte CDR as well. Won't fit on 650 MByte CDR, unless you reauthor the CD and chop about 25 MByte of it out.

I would suggest you verify your CD image with your downloaded iso image.

Cheers!

A buffer underrun in Easy CD means you have a coaster.

Exclamation

You might have noticed that the CD is slightly over 74 minutes/650MB. Might well be that a cropped CD kills the install process...

I'm not trying to have a go at you, but if your so elite then you must know that EZCD is one of the most un reliable burning programs for Windows out there. As Aussie suggested, use Nero, it hasn't failed me yet
