Awesome!! Great news!!

I was a little bummed when I saw the announcement that the polls were closed and I never noticed they had opened. So, unfortunately, I wasn't able to participate in voting this year.

But that's awesome Slackware came out on top!

LMAO, I was just looking through the results and noticed that Calligra got one vote.

Maybe time for a change in the Slackware lineup?

I see the zdnet article linked from that slashdot story is up to their usual standards! "Vote Stuffing"? :doh:

I've never given Calligra a fair chance because I need Windows compatibility and I was trained with Microsoft Office and LibreOffice is pretty much an open source version of it. For all I know Calligra might be better at some things!

Agreed. There are a few things that Calligra can do that LibreOffice cannot. My first reason for using LibreOffice was also for compatibility across OS's, but now I have no real use for Windows (aside from my HTPC) so I am going to give Calligra a fair shot on my test rig. Thanks for the wake up slap there.

Edit: It might me a trick though. I don't use KDE anymore either so I might have to wade through a sea of dependencies. Eh, I'm always up for a challenge.

Now I am curious. Such as? I've tried Calligra and still prefer Libreoffice. Maybe I'm missing something.

Flow and Plan look like they are geared towards engineers. Its got circuitry symbols and a Gantt chart.

I don't know if that is still applicable or not, I don't use many advanced features. But seems like something useful.

EDIT: LOL, I tried Calligra, full clean Slackware64-14.2, and it segfaulted when I tried to open a .ods (calc spreadsheet) that was created by LibreOffice.

Slackware is going to have a larger percentage in the votes on this forum due to this being the only official support forum. If there were a dedicated forum on Slackware's website, the results in the polls here would be different. But I digress, who doesn't like stuffing the ballot boxes? :-)

Maybe it's a compliment of sorts - that we have greater technical proficiency than users of other distros to do the required amount of vote stuffing.
