I'd start reading as many guides as possible (from slackers) Kernel compiling is kind of a moving target, but i'd suggest starting with shilo's (again) http://shilo.is-a-geek.com/slack/kernel14.html
Then check Alien Bob's post here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=443337 or on his website http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...kernelbuilding
Having Alien Bob around is almost like having PV around.
Also check the stickys from this forum on the 1st page.
If you need help you can pm me, i'm about to write the way i do it in the simplest way possible but it's been a busy week! Don't be afraid of trying. Do a backup first.

Well this is my 100th post! so i'd like to take the time to thank all Slackers out there who help their peers and who've helped me learn and understand more about linux and apreciate Slackware, the oldest surviving Linux distro, and the coolest imo, and PV of course!

Hmm....not more than 2 weeks with Slackware and I feel myself closer to my system. During these 12 days I have learnt a lot about Slackware. Ofcourse i had problems in installing packages as I had to manually resolve dependencies. The configuration of network interfaces is also different than Ubuntu / Debian. K3b gave me a little trouble. But, above all nearly all of my favourite software worked fine.
Routing is the new concept that I am trying to learn with Slackware.
