slackware irssi issues

Hrm, same scenario, did a search and only turned up two old topics with no replies, sooo...

For some unknown reason, whenever i try to use irssi in slack 10.2, it disconnects me from my dialup connection; i dunno about ssh yet, i haven't tried it. Yet, when i connect to irc using x-chat, of which i am somewhat less than fond, i stay connected, never disconnect til i actually disconnect myself.

Suggestions? Any more info i should include, please let me know what it is and i'll post back.

Thanks.

Edit: Ok, ssh is fine, even when i ssh to someone else's box then irssi. Grrr, what a pain in my...

What about building irssi from source and then checking if it works? If it won't, so it would be clear that there's problem with your net configuration. As well you can try connecting using telnet and see if problems persist.

Why does my modem run on KDE and not Flux?

Hi there, thanks for your response. i bugged my friends in irc and looked at that and a lot of different stuff and i couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Then one day i was telling my friend who helped me get my modem up and running and he ssh'd into my box and used irssi to connect to a server and we both sat there on it and chatted for ages. Seemed to work fine for a couple of hours and has worked fine all but a time or two since it made a liar out of me. Best he could guess was an ISP issue.
