NFS = Network File System
FTP is different, you must be able to mount the NFS directory before you can install from it, are you loading up the network card ? The machine that is exporting the NFS diectories can you mount the drive, try mount -t nfs host:/home/user/slackware /tmp This must work in order for you to install via NFS |
eh, i decided to download the iso and burn it onto a cd instead. much easier that way, and quicker too :)

boot failure
I am running slack 8.1 and I am getting a kernel panic error, and cannot boot, my custom kernel worked for a long time before now and I have edited out the linux line in /etc/lilo.conf so the only kernel showing was mine. but now I cannot get into my kernel, and I cannot install tomsrtbt because I have no machine that will go into DOS mode to make the floppy, I have tried to download bare.i and the newest version of rawrite for win2k and have made a bootdisk but cannot get it to boot at all
