Slackware hangup daily

Hi,

I have the following system:
- Slackware 12
- Kernel 2.6.24
- Samba 3.0.25b

- /home and swap partitions are encrypted (dm, dm-crypt)

It is running primarily as a samba-server (also fax-server, sshd, apache/mysql-test server).

I was pretty sure I had eliminated all error messages that occurred at startup after compiling the new kernel (sound, modem, NIC and more). But since the server freezes on average once a day, I must I have missed something.

I would like to post a log-file here, for some help, but I am not sure which one...?

Check for errors in /var/log/ messages, syslog, samba folder, and httpd folder. Don't post whole logs; Just post any errors you see (most likely at least one of them will be at the time your server freezes).

Why are you using an old version of samba? The newest version for Slackware 12 is 3.0.28. It was released more than two months ago. It was released as a security advisory and not just as a newer version like current may have.

Also check your system temperatures - overheating is a prime source of crashes

Out-of-specs PSU can cause weirdest crashes without any trace in logs.
