Slackware- Getting lot of temp file on the desktop
 

I am getting lot of temp file garbage on the desktop (files~) usually from the text file. Why is that? how to stop it? Thanks

vi backups - just set the 'nobackup'-option

They are probably backup files as stated above, from a text/word processor. You can delete them if you don't want the backup any more, or use something like Bleachbit which is probably overkill for just backup files.

... or, set the backup-files to go to /tmp instead
