Indeed. Gotta let people know we're still here and kicking, despite being overshadowed by RedHat, SuSE, Ubuntu, and others.

Looking at Alien BOB's site, I was especially pleased to note that Eric saw fit to mention that our beloved distro is still free of the Poettering sludge.

That'll show all those nubs that Slackware not only isn't "dead" but fully modern and free of untested silliness!

Err - not quite true.

At least libcanberra was designed to be portable and seems be so, as it can be installed in FreeBSD and Mac OSX

I was primarily referring to Poettering's second "masterpiece"; however, it would seem that he has left his mark anyway, if only in a faint sense. I can live with that, as long as it stays out of my way.

I'm thrilled that we're closer to 14.2; this has been an interesting development cycle.

Indeed it has, if only for the fact that the 14.1 --> 14.2 phase has been longer than most periods. Oh well, it just means good software just takes time to coalesce. I have no complaints running -current; it's been very stable for me. I'm content to wait until Pat is good and ready to release 14.2.
