Here is the solution. Opera 9.64 and Flash Player 10.0.22.87...Repeat this for all files that are missing, and that's it.
Okeydokey, I probably should post this in the SlackBuilds.org forum, but why is this necessary?

I decided to install Opera 9.64 and test. I downloaded the build script for Opera from slackbuilds.org.

Some time ago I had the latest Flash plugin installed from slackbuilds.org and the plugin runs fine in Firefox (3.10).

Yet Opera would not recognize the Flash plugin location until I created the sym links as described by Logan87. The Opera plugin.ini file was already pointing to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. Opera found the SVG plugin located there but not Flash.

I'm grateful Logan87's response succeeds, but should this be something the slackbuild script checks? Or the doinst.sh script? I found nothing in either of the slackbuild scripts or doinst.sh file.

Are these sym links created by some other package in the stock Slackware? I notice no such links being created in the Firefox, Thunderbird, or Seamonkey packages or in the respective doinst.sh scripts. As only a few people seem to have this problem with Opera, there must be some package that creates these links. Possibly people who do not maintain a full installation might have the problem but not those who do. Or possibly some past package created the links.

Any ideas?

You could always put a copy of the plugin in the
/usr/lib/opera/plugins/
directory.

The latest build script creates no such directory. The commentation in the build script for Flash implies that Opera should find the Flash plugin.

No problem, I'm glad to help. And yeah, SlackBuilds script wont do the job unfortunately.

It wont help if you have files missing. That's why you have to create symlinks. After that it doesn't matter where plugin is located, as long as plugins location is added to Opera.

To anybody who reads this thread looking for the same answer. I had a conversation with Robbie W. through the slackbuilds list and the kink seems to be not having the seamonkey package installed. I don't have the package installed. Therefore, another solution rather than manually create the sym links is to reinstall the seamonkey package.

Interesting. I installed the static package directly from Opera and it created the directory. When flash wouldn't work I move a copy to the above named directory and that was the end of the problem. SeaMonkey was installed.
Whatever works.
