slackware dial-up help
 

Can anyone point me to a easy how-to on setting up a dialup internet connection in Slackware? I beat my brains out for 3 nights trying to get it going and had to reinstall Mandrake to get back on the internet. Thanks

Yeah, and the modem cs light came on and that was it. I got it to dial out and connect, but when I did an ifconfig it did not show the device ppp0. So I did a n ifconfig ppp0 and it showed it with no IP. So then I did an ifconfig ppp0 216.28.210.135 and it showed up with the ip but I coulf not ping yahoo o any other site on the internet. iI got an error the said something like that operation is not permmitted (was logged in as root).

I fixed (clob jobbed) it by re-installing Mandrake and the coping the files that I needed. Them installed Slack and copied the file over and connected.
