Slackware current - mouse ignores acceleration and sensitivity settings

I've duplicated this a couple of times now. With Slackware 14.2, you can go into Mouse and Touchpad and adjust acceleration and sensitivity. The mouse responds as you would expect it to.

With Slackware current as of 4/9/2017 (and also whatever was in current a few weeks ago), the mouse ignores acceleration and sensitivity settings. I can set them all the way to one side or the other, and it makes no difference at all.

I have not touched any conf files, and I haven't tweaked or otherwise customized anything. In both cases I'm using the current nVidia proprietary driver.

I've experimented with xset m, but it does not change anything.

I've looked at the files in /etc/X11, and see no difference, telling me it's not some setting there causing this.

Edit:

I created a new user account and it does it there also, telling me it's not something in the user account gone bad.

I plugged in a second mouse, and the second mouse appears in the config screen, but it behaves the same way.

I'm using a USB Microsoft Intellimouse. Slackware current 64 bit. Xfce.

This is most likely a problem caused by the inclusion of libinput. At this point, I'm not entirely sure what the best option is.
If you want to use xfce's modules to configure your mouse, your best bet is probably to remove xf86-input-libinput.
Otherwise you'd have to figure out how to configure pointer acceleration for that driver.

I'm not a slackware user, but a good idea to check which Xorg input driver is in use
Code:
grep "Using input driver" /var/log/Xorg.0.log
There has been a move to using libinput, with evdev and synaptics drivers being deprecated. In particular, GNOME 3.20 specifically requires the use of libinput.

I noticed that also and did a search and found a bit help on an ubuntu forum. I can only guess it is a 'advancement' with freedesktop In reality, with the number of hardware devices, I can understand the new method, but I wish xset was changed. These are from my notes, and I had to play around a bit to find the correct setting:

Find the device, I get device 11
Code:
$ xinput list
- TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint   id=11 ....
Now get information:
Code:
$ xinput list-props 11
A whole bunch of stuff is returned
So I settled on this command
Code:
xinput set-prop 11 264 2.0
Where 11 is my device, 246 = "Device Accel Constant Deceleration" and 2.0 = speed, the higher the number the slower the mouse

John
