Slackware-Current, compile questions for firefox source slackbuild

I noticed in the firefox (version 32) source build for Slackware-Current (Sept. 4, 2014), a few changes compared to the previous (version 31).

The mozilla-firefox.SlackBuild for firefox 32 has a minor change in Arch build flags (for ARM processors). However, there was this change in the BUILD options flags:

--enable-xinerama \
$OPTIMIZE \

The prior slackbuild version for Firefox 31 was:

--enable-xinerama \
--enable-optimize \

Question: Are the two statements the same? Or is $OPTIMIZE a different flag or just a comment statement?

I've taken the liberty to use the prior firefox 31 slackbuild in the August 28 CURRENT to build the ESR version of firefox31esr within Slackware64-14.1.

Firefox31esr works in 14.1!!

Here's one more loosely related question: Since ESR is jumping to 31, are there plans to use it in the next version of Slackware? Or at least update Slackware 14.1 to Firefox31ESR?

$OPTIMIZE is a variable. It is set in the section with the architecture specific options. For ARM it is OPTIMIZE=" --enable-optimize ". Thus, for ARM, the two are equivalent. Look closely at the SlackBuild and you will see this.

The "$" prefix represents a variable value. It is probably defined in the beggining of the SlackBuild.
