I am running NVIDIA drivers on 13.1 stable x64, so it may not apply to you, but I found that the only driver I could consistently install and reinstall is 256.44. Others would fail during installation or glitch badly.

thanx man, is not my problem, but your coment help me to find the way.

is a gcc problem, i made a downgrade and works

I use the nvidia binary driver on Slackware64-current and rebuilt the module after the last group of upgrades, including kernel 2.6.35.7. It compiled without problems and it's working properly.

Same here. FWIW I use the non compat32 one.

I use Slack-current (Mon Oct 13 20:30:44 UTC 2010) with the nvidia drivers 260.19.12 version and installs correctly.
I can not say anything about the version 256.53 ...

As root, in run level 3, cd to the directory containing the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.12.run file and execute 'sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.12.run'

ponce 10-26-2010 07:21 AM

specialized, I think you missed to install the libelf package, needed by latest gcc in -current.

i already do that, but shows error like this :

Could not compile 'gcc-version-check.c'. Please be sure you have your Linu
x distribution's gcc and libc development packages installed.

by the way, 'sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.12.run' and './NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.12.run' it's result same output isn't (coz i using ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.12.run)

CMIIW

(NB: i'm using Nvidia driver ver 256.53)
