Question Slackware Current 64bit wine gstreamer

Hello Everyone,

I have a problem with wine and gstreamer. When i try to play Mgs2
i get this warnings poping up and the game stalls at cut scenes.

** (wine:9832): WARNING **: can't find typefind element, decodebin will not work

(wine:9832): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_pad_link_full: assertion 'GST_IS_PAD (sinkpad)' failed

(wine:9832): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_pad_unlink: assertion 'GST_IS_PAD (sinkpad)' failed

(wine:9832): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_object_unref: assertion 'object != NULL' failed

Any ideas whats causing the issue?

BTW: If i remove the gstreamer-compat32-1.12.0-x86_64-1compat32 package the game works fine.

It sounds like the GStreamer (streaming multimedia framework) might be creating conflict with your game. Here's what I found on it.

Others have the same error as you with Rhythmbox-

Maybe recompile and reinstall gstreamer will solve the issue? <certainly an option if you want to try it>

Here it's a bug.

I looked for a solution online but just found complaints. I'm not sure what else you could try.

Hang in there other members may know how to rectify this and chime in.

The best place to troubleshoot wine problems is on Wine HQ pages dedicated to the game. A quick search on google of "Metal Gear Solid 2 Wine hq gstreamer" yielded this page:

https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManag...estingId=93660

The above test was done on Slackware-current. So results may vary. Be sure to read all comments too, often they have very helpful solutions to other problems you may not have noticed.

It might help the process if you posted what version of wine and what the exact name of your game is.
