Slackware current 64 hardlock

Hello Everyone,

I was watching a video using xine and just before it was about to end
the whole screen froze. I had to press power button to shutdown. I'm
using xfce with volumeicon and nmapplet running. I'm using nouveaux
driver.

How can i know what cause the issue?

Didier Spaier 12-20-2015 10:35 AM

Check the logs.

And next time, before you power cycle it, try to SSH into it from another machine.

If you have an Android smartphone/tablet, there are ssh apps on the Play Store (I use Juice SSH ALL THE TIME). Apple might have ssh apps on their app store, but I've never checked.

Hello Bassmadrigal,

I don't have any smartphone's or tablets or apples.

Did you try to get the tty2 with ctrl + alt + F2 (or whatever works for xfce) ?

You know, I would really consider a second Internet-capable device to be a necessity these days. :/

There's a possibility that it's stopped taking input from the keyboard and mouse, but you can still SSH into it and do things like "dmesg" and "tail /var/log/Xorg.0.log" and even "reboot" remotely.
