Good old Rute. That's where I began using Linux. If I am not wrong it came by default with earlier versions of Knoppix (pre 2003).

I agree that 'RUTE' is a must tutorial for any new user or serious user. Be it Slackware or whatever. :)

Wow, I have been looking for guides on these specific topics for a week or so now, and these are both the best I have seen, respectively. With so much information out there, I can tell you that it is not easy as a new user to find literature that is not geared toward the already adept. While it is possible for a newcomer to learn from man and wiki pages written in tech-speak, it is far easier (and more enjoyable) to start with something that actually explains itself as it goes along instead of assuming you know all sorts of other things. Books like these are rarer than most people seem to think.

Ordered a print of RUTE from Amazon and wish the other one were published. Thanks a lot!
