Question Slackware can't address proper RAM?

I've got 1GB of RAM installed on my computer but when I look at /proc/meminfo it only prints out 904mb memtotal. So thinking it was just round-off issues, I added an extra 512mb ram stick inside and it still totalled 904mb? Any clues on addressing, fixing this problem?

You'll need to recompile your kernel with highmem support, as I don't believe that any of the default Slack kernels install it. For just 1 GB of RAM, people argue whether it's worth it (addressing high memory involves some extra inefficiencies in the kernel), but if you have >1 GB you should definitely do it.

as btmiller stated to get full 1GB you must enable highmem (if your willing to try 2.6 and -ck you can use 1GB without highmem). For only 1GB its proble not worth it, but for 2 GB or higher it is.
