Question Slackware and automounting

Hi,
I have Slackware 8.0 and I am having a problem with autofs. The problem is that I am missing it, however, I have all sample samples in /usr/doc/autofs/samples and I also have the man pages for automount. I can't seem to get automount to work though. Can someone familiar with the automount and autofs with Slackware help me with this. I have read the man pages and mini howto's and they assume autofs exists. But I can not find it. I even performed:

find / | grep *autofs* | less

with no luck.

Thanks,
Joe

I to had the same problem with Slackware 2.x. I could not find autofs.
I had to edit the /etc/rc.d/rc.nfs I think. And had to put :
automount <mountpoint> yp <nis map name>
for each mount.
I am going to try and use just the auto_master file.
Currently some of my mounts show nothing but mount command shows
them mounted. Don't know whats going on with that.

I also am going to look into finding out why autofs is not present.

Please, if the thread you are replying to is more than 6 months old, and there is no reply to the thread and you are not offering a solution but rather stating you are having similar problems, post a new thread. For now, I'll move this to the Slackware forum, but in the future, please, for your own benefit, follow the above advice.

Moving to Slackware

Cool
