Slackware and 64bit intel processor
Ok, I'm new...
I've searched a lot in google and in the "search-tab" of the forum! 1)Nobody know if there is some problem installing slackware on new 64bit Intel processor? 2)And on dual-core? 3)Where can I find some kind of information about it? Thank very much for your attention. |

1) If the new Intel processor can parse the x86 instruction set there will be no problems. 2) You will need to enable SMP (afaik) to utilise the dual-cores properly. 3) Google for "x86_64", "slackware" and/or "slamd64". The "x86_64" search parameter will also bring up a lot of information in these forums. You may find problems finding people who have actually tested slackware on these chips, but in theory, it will work. - Piete. |
Yup slack will run on 64-bit processors and dual cores. You would have to enable SMP support and recompile the kernel. See my sig...
